What is Particulate Matter?

Particulate matter (PM), also known as particle pollution, is a complex mixture of extremely small particles and liquid droplets that get into the air. Once inhaled, these particles can affect the heart and lungs and cause serious health effects.

Particulate Matter Penetration in the human body

Particulate matter comes in different shape and sizes. The infographic below shows how deep in the human body those particles end up when inhaled. The smaller the particles, the more dangerous they are! That’s why, when choosing an air filter, you should always choose protection against the smallest particles, in other words PM1.
