SM-98-2R – High efficient surgical mask

The SM-98-IIR is a medical face mask type IIR and is intended as a medical device for healthcare professionals and persons working in contact-based professions.  Wearing the face mask protects contacts from microorganisms coming from the wearer. The mask helps reduce exposure of your saliva and respiratory secretions to others. In addition, this masks is designed to help block large-particle droplets, splashes, sprays, or splatter that may contain germs (viruses and bacteria), keeping it from reaching your mouth and nose. This face mask is for single use, for up to 4 hours.

Description

  • The highly efficient 3-layer disposable masks produced by AFPRO Filters in Alkmaar are intended for private use.
  • They are suitable for traveling by public transport and for other social circumstances in which it is difficult to keep 1.5 meters distance.

Material 3-layer mask

The 3-layer mask produced by AFPRO Filters Alkmaar consists of three protective layers and contain the well-known filter material ‘meltblown’. Therefore the mouth mask offers a BFE (Bacterial Filtration Efficiency) of > 98%. This has been tested and confirmed by an independent research laboratory, HygCen Austria.

Test report

Efficiency and quality

The test report contains the results of the independent testing laboratory HeX group. A mask can be marked as a type II when tests prove it meets the requirements of a BFE of at least 98%. For the tested masks of AFPRO this is on average 99.9%.

In addition, the breathability of the mask falls well below the limit of a type II mask. All tests have been carried out according to the European standard EN14683. We are currently awaiting the results of an independent splash resistance test.
