Le charbon actif pr\u00e9sent dans les filtres est capable de filtrer les\u00a0mol\u00e9cules gazeuses par adsorption. Son principe est simple : les particules sont d&rsquo;une taille sup\u00e9rieure\u00a0\u00e0 l&rsquo;espace entre les fibres et sont donc retenues.\n<h4><strong>\nEffet d&rsquo;inertie<\/strong><\/h4>\nOn utilise ce principe lorsque la masse des particules est \u00e9lev\u00e9e. Les particules arrivent\u00a0\u00e0 grande vitesse. Par leur poids, elles heurtent les fibres du filtre au lieu de les contourner et de poursuivre leur trajectoire en suivant le flux d&rsquo;air.\n<h4><strong>\nEffet d&rsquo;interception<\/strong><\/h4>\nLe fait que les particules exercent une force d&rsquo;attraction est important pour ce principe de filtration. Les fibres du filtre les plus importantes attirent les particules relativement petites. Une fois intercept\u00e9es, elles continuent\u00a0d&rsquo;adh\u00e9rer aux fibres du filtre.\n<h4><strong>\nEffet de diffusion<\/strong><\/h4>\nLe mouvement des tr\u00e8s petites particules est souvent irr\u00e9gulier. Ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne est appel\u00e9 mouvement de Brownse. La trajectoire parcourue par les particules peut d\u00e9pendre de la direction du flux d&rsquo;air. Il y a de grandes chances que sous l&rsquo;effet du mouvement de Brownse, les particules entrent en contact avec les fibres du filtre.
